Psychologist and Sexologist

About Erik Rusowicz

I’m Erik, a Chartered Psychologist and Clinical Sexologist.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, emotional difficulties, relational struggles, and sexual concerns, including problems that can feel hard to name, discuss, or resolve alone.

I trained in Clinical Psychology and later completed postgraduate training in Clinical Sexology to deepen my work in the psychological and relational aspects of sexuality. My practice brings these two areas together, allowing me to support people at the intersection of mental health and sexuality.

I work with individuals and couples facing difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, sexual dysfunction, low desire, pain during sex, compulsive sexual behaviours, relationship strain, shame, and emotional disconnection. Many of the people I see are insightful and high functioning, but remain stuck in patterns that persist despite effort.

My Approach

My work is collaborative, structured, and evidence-based. I draw primarily on cognitive behavioural therapy, alongside psychosexual therapy, to help individuals and couples understand the patterns maintaining emotional, relational, and sexual difficulties.

CBT is a practical form of therapy that helps you identify how thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and bodily responses interact, and how certain patterns can unintentionally keep a problem going.

Psychosexual therapy focuses on sexual difficulties that may be psychological, relational, behavioural, or physiological in origin. It helps individuals and couples work through concerns related to desire, function, intimacy, identity, and sexual wellbeing.

Together, we identify what is maintaining the difficulty and develop practical strategies for change.

Who This Practice Is For

This practice is for adults who may be functioning outwardly, but feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, emotional strain, relational difficulty, or sexual concerns that persist despite insight and effort.

I work with people facing difficulties such as low mood, obsessive or anxious thinking, relationship problems, sexual dysfunction, low desire, shame, stress, and life transitions.

Whether the difficulty is longstanding or more recent, therapy offers a space to understand what is maintaining it and begin changing it in a clear, practical, and respectful way.

What to Expect

In our sessions, we work together to understand the patterns maintaining the difficulty, including how thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relational dynamics may be contributing to it.

Therapy is active, structured, and practical. You can expect greater clarity about what is happening, together with strategies to help reduce pressure, improve communication, and support emotional, relational, and sexual change.

Whether you are facing a longstanding difficulty or something more recent, therapy offers a space to understand it more clearly and begin moving forward.

My Philosophy

I value warmth, respect, and non-judgment in the therapeutic relationship, but also structure and depth. Therapy works best when it offers both understanding and movement.
